Robert Emmett-1 LONG was born March 1844 in County Tipperary, Ireland, and died 20 Feb 1922 in Tewksbury State Infirmary, Middlesex Co. MA [of arteriosclerosis]. He was the son of Michael & Johanna (Bridget) Long of Ireland. [Michael was born abt 1820 in Ireland and Johanna Bridget was born abt 1824 in Tipperary Co. Ireland]
In 1883 Robert was in Lee MA working as a papermaker. In 1900 he was working as "day labor." He was buried in 1922 in St. Mary Cemetery in Lee, Berkshire Co. MA. Robert Emmett Long married 23 June 1869 in West Stockbridge, Berkshire Co MA to Mary Anna Sullivan. She was b. 24 March 1848 in Charlestown, Suffolk Co. MA.

MA to Clara Albina Bouvier, dau of Alphonse Edward & Malvina Albina (Mongeon) Bouvier. Clara was born 15 July 1881 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minn. and died 22 Dec 1949 in Plainville, Hartford Co., CT.

John-1 LONG born 1690 in Ireland, died 1749 in Taunton, MA; m. 1712 in Ireland to Sarah Jane -- . She b. 1691 in Ireland. He m2) 16 Oct 1728 in Taunton, MA to Jennie Woodward. She b. 1697 in Massachusetts and died 19 Feb 1750/51 in Taunton, MA
Note: David Long III said in his letters that his grandfathers brother was mayor of Londonderry. Henry Long was mayor of Londonderry in 1723 when the English laid siege and tried to drive the Protestants out of Ireland. John had another brother Parley Long who came from Londonderry in 1732 and settled in Uxbridge Mass. Parley had three sons.

3. +John-2 Long Jr, b. 19 Jan 1719/20 in Londonderry, Ireland; He was was only six when the family to America. His future wife Mary Taft was also on the same boat; m. 21 Sep 1745 in Upton, MA to Mary/Sarah TAFT. She d. 21 Aug 1801. HAD ISSUE.
4. Mary-2 Long, b. 1723 in Ireland; d. Shelburne, MA; m. James Woodward
5. +David-2 Long, b. 1724 in Ireland; d. 24 Oct 1784 in Greenfield, MA; David was two when the family came to America. He may have been named after his grandfather; m. 17 Dec 1747 in Shelburne, MA to Martha Woodward. She b abt 1722. HAD ISSUE.

NOTE: I have not been able to find proofs of the above John-1 LONG and his family in Taunton MA. It is believed that the LONG family of SWANZEY NEW HAMPSHIRE are descended from this line.
